Disturbances - lecture series: Occupy Oakland!
Submitted by A-ryhmä on 13 January, 2013 - 06:0120th of January 2 PM at Kupoli of New student house, Mannerheimintie 5 B 7. kerros
2011 was the year that is remembered from the Occupy protests, which spread all around the world. In North America, most profound and radical protests took place in Oakland, where thousands of protesters
shut down Port of Oakland, the fifth busiest port in USA 2nd of November 2011. Calamity Barucha took intense part to the protest from the very first day, and she will tell via skype about her experiences, lessons of the
Occupy movement and what she has been up to since then. Disturbances is an open series of lectures and discussions at the crossroads of society, philosophy, history, economy and resistance.
We are already aware that we can not live as before, but we do not know what the future holds. Others are stuck in the past, but we only want to understand it. Even a small disturbance of an initial condition can lead a system into a completely different state.
Our speakers are Finnish and international anti-authoritarian researchers and activists. Events are organized in cooperation with A-ryhmä and AutOp, two student groups of the University of Helsinki.
Three upcoming events will be organised in Kupoli of New Student House, Mannerheimintie 5 B 7th floor, on Sundays from 2PM. You may also follow them online (both real-time and recording) at http://bambuser.com/channel/A-ryhma.
Our program is created by the participants themselves, if you want to join or simply get in contact, write a-ryhma@riseup.net.
